While the weekend of June 21 - 22 is sure to be very memorable and filled with fun, there is an easy way for you to add more meaning to your run. You can make a difference in the lives of women and children across the country who do not feel safe at home! Join thousands of runners nationwide who are dedicating their participation in partner relays to the Need for Speed Against Domestic Violence National Series. The Need for Speed is a program of the Avon Foundation that raises funds and awareness to support children and families affected by domestic violence.

Did you know that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the US, more than car accidents, muggings and rapes combined? This is a reason to BECOME A NEED FOR SPEED FUNDRAISER. Every 9 seconds a woman in the US is assaulted or beaten and more than three women are killed each day. Another good reason to BECOME A NEED FOR SPEED FUNDRAISER. And sadly, children are often at their mother’s side during this terrible abuse. The most important reason to BECOME A NEED FOR SPEED FUNDRAISER.

A NEW WAY TO THINK ABOUT FUNDRAISING
Many people think fundraising is difficult, or they feel uncomfortable asking for donations, however, we have heard repeatedly from successful Need For Speed Fundraisers how easy it can be! Go online to Become a Need for Speed Fundraiser! Start a fundraising team, join a fundraising team, or fundraise on your own! Once you sign up, you can set up your own fundraising webpage, where you can post photos, email your friends and family and send messages to your teammates. Once you’ve signed up you will receive a monthly newsletter with fundraising suggestions and be assigned a personal Running Buddy who will be available to answer any fundraising questions you may have. Before you decide that fundraising is not for you, consider the fact that with each mile you run and each dollar you raise you will help another child feel safe at home and help restore HOPE for a better future.

INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING PRIZES:

$150 - Long-sleeved Need for Speed Technical Shirt
$500 - $50 Gift Certificate to a sports store
$2,000 - GPS training system

Note: Prizes subject to change. All donations must be received by July 31, 2008 in order to qualify. Prizes will be sent out approximately 6-8 weeks after the deadline date and are NOT cumulative.

TEAM FUNDRASING PRIZES

The team that raises the most over $2,500 will be awarded a free entry into the Green Mountain Relay for 2009!
