Run A Relay News

April 21st

Hello Runners,

Taxes paid (and hopefully a refund coming), the incredible performances in Boston the last two days, it's looking like Spring is finally here!

3rd Annual Green Mountain Relay

Just a quick reminder concerning the Green Mountain Relay. Regular registration ends April 30th with Late Registration starting May 1st. Registration then closes on May 31st. For entry info, please click here.

5th Annual Wild West Relay

Still plenty of time to organize your team. Late registration for the WWR does not start until July 1st. However, the Ultra category only has seven openings left.

Team Matching Message Boards

For those of you interested in running in the Green Mountain Relay or the Wild West Relay but aren't on a team, there are team matching message boards for each relay on their respective websites (GMR and WWR).

One suggestion - if you are a runner looking for a team to join, post your interest under the heading RUNNER(S) LOOKING FOR A TEAM. Some have posted their interest and availability only under a post from someone with a team looking for runners. Not every person who is looking to fill their team will go through all the other posts to find available runners so you are limiting your chances of hooking up with a team. So we suggest that you post under the RUNNER(S) LOOKING FOR A TEAM heading as well as responding to an individual post.

Also, if you see a post that interests you, you can click on the email button to email the person directly in addition to leaving a response to their post on the message board.

Thanks again for your support and interest in our relay events. We hope to see you out there.

Volunteers With A Purpose

Giving back to the local communities is very important to us. We figure that, while we limit the size of our relays so as not to overly inconvenience local residents, most of the exchanges that we use are on private property, owned by the county, the town, a business, or even a private individual. Over the last three years, $56,000 has been raised and distributed to participating local non-profit organizations through our 'Volunteers With A Purpose' program. We are on pace for $25,000 to $30,000 this year alone!

Some of the non-profit organizations that will be out there supporting participants are:

Green Mountain Relay
Wild West Relay
Barre Tones
United Way of Larimer County
Fraternal Order of Eagles
Chapel in the Pines
Habitat for Humanity
Colorado Life-Sharing Community Initiative
Health Connections of the Upper Valley
Colorado West Regional Mental Health
Humane Society of Chittenden County
Gamma Chi of ESA
Manchester Lions Club
Larimer County Dive Rescue Team

Loveland Youth Advisory Commission

Troop 194 - Boy Scouts

We are also members of 1% For the Planet - one percent of our gross revenue is donated to environmental organizations. And both relays are part of the Avon Foundation's 'Need For Speed Against Domestic Violence' fundraising program.

Need for Speed

And for those of you who live along the Front Range in Colorado, please take a look at our new event - the Couples Relay. Teams of two can race each other for bragging rights. Races are in:

Fort Collins City Park - Sunday May 18th
Denver Washington Park - Sunday June 29th
Colorado Springs America the Beautiful Park - Sunday July 20th

Let us know if you have any questions! We look forward to seeing you.
