May 2008
Hello GMR runners,
I wanted to let you know an important change that is in the process of happening and it concerns the tech shirts.
The supplier I used last year decided to move all their production overseas to China. What this meant is I had to put in an order 60 days ahead of time. This would be impossible if I wanted to have the correct number of each sized shirt each of you requested. Many race directors order percentages of sizes, so there is always going to be someone disappointed who did not receive the size shirt they requested. I did not want to go this route. Therefore, I started researching new vendors. I have decided on a company called Sport Science. I have worn their shirts and they are very, very comfortable. They also offer a printing process called "fusion" where the ink adheres to the material as opposed to an oil based ink being silk screened on to the shirts. The result is you don't feel the artwork when you are wearing the shirt (i.e. it is much more comfortable) and the shirt performs like you expect.
So I wanted to give you a heads up as you may want to change the size of shirt you ordered. This is especially important for the women as this company does not offer an XSmall size. In addition, I will be offering women two different styles of shirts - a short sleeve and a sleeveless in the colors pictured below (depending on availability - I know color is an individual choice, but I wanted to try something different than white. I did a survey with female running friends to learn their color preferences, so that is why you are seeing the these colors). If you chose a Womens XSmall before, take a look at the sleeveless shirts as they are sized smaller than the Women's Crew Neck. You can click on the links below to read more about the shirts.
The sizing Sport Science sent me is different that what was posted, so you may want to change your size. The men's shirt is cut more like a cotton t-shirt (doesn't fit as snugly as another tech shirt might), so keep that in mind.
Here is the new sizing chart:

To make any changes, contact your team captain. They will need to log into the team database and make your shirt size changes. At the start/finish, there will be a LIMITED number of extras shirts if you want to trade, so please take the time to choose the correct shirt now. Remember, the database closes on May 30th and the shirts will be ordered shortly thereafter.
Shirts can be a headache for a race director in trying to make everyone happy. I offered men's and women's sizing last year and it went pretty smoothly. I'm hoping offering women two options this year also goes smoothly.
Thanks for your cooperation!
